Hospital Audit

The Hospital / Waivered Services (HWS) Unit of the Provider Audit Division is responsible for auditing and reviewing cost reports for the E&D waivers, SAIL waivers, psychiatric hospitals, Children’s Specialty Clinics, psychiatric residential treatment facilities (PRTFs), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Centers (CCBHC). 

Approximately 88 hospitals participate in the Alabama Medicaid program, providing inpatient and outpatient services.

For hospitals, the HWS unit receives and reviews hospital cost reports, computes inpatient rates annually for psychiatric hospitals, and computes tax assessments for private hospitals.
